Colossus of Roads

THE COLOSSUS OF ROADS: This cartoon was inspired by the giant statue of Greek god Helios, which once straddled the harbour on the island of Rhodes. The statue has inspired many cartoons, most famously Sambourne's 1892 "The Rhodes Colossus", which in turn was parodied by Zapiro in 2009. See those two cartoons and the original statue HERE.
