YOUNG CARTOONISTS WORKSHOP IN CAPE TOWN
CONDUCTED BY THE CREATORS OF MAMA TAXI & TREK NET
Africartoons.com and the SA Jewish Museum invite young aspirant cartoonists (aged 12 - 17) to spend a morning with the creators of the well known newspaper comic strips 'Mama Taxi' and 'Trek Net' as they share moments from a day in the life of a cartoonist. [see full story for details]
Gavin, Deni and Dave are co-creators of two of South Africa's most popular comic strips; Mama Taxi and Trek Net. Gavin draws the pictures and Deni (Mama Taxi) and Dave (Trek Net) come up with the ideas. They will be conducting the workshop in which aspiring young cartoonists will receive a rare opportunity to discover the tricks of the trade and even create their own cartoon supervised by these experts.
Find out how they got started, how they work, and how they got published. How do you get your cartoon out there? If you want to see your cartoon in print you have to learn the tricks of the trade – how to produce, research, market and distribute.
Included in the event is a fascinating guided walkabout of the Zapiro exhibition. Then it's back to the drawing board to create your own cartoon!
There’ll be time for Q & A, refreshments, and then a lucky draw
