  1. Cartoonists take a stand against media restrictions

    South Africa’s top editorial cartoonists have banded together to protest against the government’s intended press restrictions.

    In rejecting the proposed Protection of Information Bill and Media Tribunal, they have warned that these restrictions will erode the right to freedom of expression achieved by the country’s hard fought struggle for democracy.

  5. Cartoon Events at the Cape Town Book Fair

    This year's fifth anniversary of the Cape Town Book Fair has some exciting events on offer for cartoon enthusiasts. The fair will be held once again at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, from Saturday 31st July through to Monday 2nd August. Friday, July 30th has been set aside for the trade.

    Zakumi, the strange green-maned cartoon leopard that has landed the dream job of mascot for the 2010 Soccer World Cup, turned 16 yesterday, according to his Wikipedia entry. However he is far from being a 'sweet sixteen' year-old if stories doing the rounds are to be believed.

  10. Cartoon Book Flies off Shelves

    PUBLISHERS ORDER 2nd IMPRINT OF POPULAR BOOK

    'Don't Joke! The Year in Cartoons' - the inaugural annual of South African editorial cartoons - has sold so well since it was launched last December that the book's publishers, Jacana Media, have ordered a reprint in anticipation of stocks running out in two month's time.
