WHERE'S THE RENT? IT'S SPENT! Former deputy minister of foreign affairs Aziz Pahad owes R153 000 in rental arrears for his official accommodation. Ministers' rent is calculated at 1% of the their salaries, but recent revelations show that the state is owed millions in unpaid rentals. FRED MOUTON suggests things could have been far worse - Pahad could have amassed a huge luxury hotel bill on top of that, as some of his colleagues have done.
