PICTURE PERFECT: Dr Jack & Curtis juxtapose the South African reality of parentless families with the backdrop of Norman Rockwell's idyllic 'Freedom From Want' piece, depicting a full, extended family sitting down to a Thanksgiving dinner. This cartoon illustrates a story in City Press this week, which argues that alternative family units to the traditional nuclear family are not only a reality for most South Africans, but that they are often as effective and even more so.
