Police Arrest Sheep
ARRESTING KNIGHT: Sandton Metro police spokesman Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar has defended the 'arrest' of a herd of decorative wire and bead sheep that were placed outside Sandton's Bang & Olufsen shop to liven up the pavement.
Minnaar says "A shop owner cannot trade outside their shop. If [the sheep were] there for fun, well, it's unfortunate, but it cannot be there because it may be an obstruction." He has vowed to rearrest the sheep should they be found to be grazing in the public area again.
"If it wasn't so funny, it would be seriously scary. Our sheep are sitting in the municipal pound in Randburg and we have to pay to get them back", says B&O sales manager Mike Sharp. The company has agreed to pay R2000 bail for the return of their sheep. They won't be having sheepless nights over the matter, but Wilson MGOBHOZI suggests that Minnaar might!
