Sweeping the Floor with COPE
SWEEPING UP: Thanks to it's internal problems, COPE lost votes to the ANC and DA in the municipal elections. Now, as the two larger parties grapple for alliances in wards where there were no outright winners, COPE is looking at being swept into a coalition. Problem is, half the party ('The Shilowa Faction') want to deal with the ANC, while the other half (behind Lekota) are in favour of a deal with the DA. The party that was defeated because it is divided, remains divided in defeat.
