Qaphelani 'QAPS' Mngadi is the only cartoonist in South Africa to produce regular cartoons in isiZulu for a mainstream newspaper ('Isolezwe').

In fact, to our knowledge, he is the only cartoonist producing regular work in any of the official languages other than English and Afrikaans; highlighting a dire need for more cartoonists and publications to be published in the other African languages.

QAPS was born in Clermont near Durban and started out with the Christian isiZulu paper 'Umafrika' before he joined 'Isolezwe' in 2003 where he remains to this day, having built up a strong following amongst the paper's readership.
