A Mayor Disruption

A MAYOR UPHEAVAL: Bitou's former mayor Lulama Mvimbi has brought the first meeting of the new council to a halt by constantly interrupting its process and then refusing to abide by a ruling to have him evicted from the chambers. The impasse has resulted in a number of postponements of the meeting, each time with the Mvimbi disrupting it and refusing to leave. After police refused to enforce the eviction, the DA (who won the ward in the recent local elections) vowed to continue deferring the meeting until a court order can be obtained to ensure Mvimbi's compliance. Meanwhile, and in full view of the police, the former mayor and his councillors violently attacked a journalist covering the commotion.
