Zapiro writes:

The Oscar Pistorius story broke on Valentine’s Day, shortly before the Mail & Guardian went to print. I think I was persuaded by Oscar’s version of events for about 10 minutes. I had a short discussion with then M&G editor-in-chief Nic Dawes and immediately did the cartoon, which reflects my skepticism. It reminded me of having to make an early call on Hansie Cronje’s match fixing.
