Two old ladies of Athlone bow out
DEMOLISHED: The twin cooling towers in Athlone, which greeted highway traffic between Cape Town International airport and the city, came crashing down last Sunday in a planned demolition. An internet poll asked readers which buildings they'd next like to see go. Overwhelming winner of that dubious honour went to set of triplets this time. Disa Towers, better known as Tampon Towers, have been a blight on the mountain scape for way too long.
