Apartheid and Violence
WHO'S TO BLAME? JERM takes exception to a recent study by the Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation (CSVR), which blames Apartheid for today's violent climate in South Africa. Where does the blaming end, asks Jerm, citing violent histories of the Zulu people before apartheid and colonialism brought their own brands of violence. Rather than apportion blame, Jerm believes we need to accept responsibility for the now before we can work towards improving it.
