Netcare Organ Transplants
ORGAN GRINDERS: After 7 years of denials, Netcare have finally owned up to performing illegal kidney transplant operations in which poor Brazilian children were often coaxed to give up their organs to be used by wealthy Israeli recipients. Netcare is South Africa's largest private medical group, with over 50 hospitals under its control, and the transplants took place in one of them, in Durban. The group has been fined R8m in a plea bargain settlement. STIDY compares their dodgy practice to the creation of Frankenstein.
