Eyewitness News reports Zapiro as saying that there has been no shortage of political characters and issues to draw inspiration from in the local government elections. “[ANC Secretary General] Gwede Mantashe has really been scrambling. The ANC has been under immense pressure. I really do enjoy drawing him. I have had some nice shots at Helen Zille as well,” he said.
