DRIVING UP EXPENSES: ID leader Patricia de Lille has exposed a number of MPs from all the leading parties who appear to be cashing in on travelling costs allowed by parliament. The biggest culprit is the DA's Manie van Dyk who drives, often twice a month, the return trip between Parliament in Cape Town and his Pretoria home, claiming R3,69 per km plus an overnight accommodation allowance of R1 150, totalling R12 600 per round trip - almost three times the R4 350 cost of a return flight. Van Dyk's travelling has cost the taxpayer R275 000 in the period between April 2009 and May 2010 which, says FRED MOUTON, puts him right up there with the greatest travellers of our time!
