Return of The Rose
A ROSE FROM THE ASHES: Dingaan Thobela, "The Rose of Soweto", has been awarded a professional boxing licence at the age of 45; five years after hanging up his gloves. The former lightweight champion hopes to challenge Wiseman Dlomo for the South African heavyweight crown. Thobela, who turns 46 in September, has declared 2011 to be boxing's "Year of Senior Citizens", after fellow veterans Bernard Hopkins and Francois Botha made spectacular comebacks to beat younger opponents.
