Ring of Shame

The barbaric killing of three suspected thieves, by placing fuel doused tyres around their necks and lighting them, recalls some of our darkest memories of street justice during the apartheid era. The practice is as indicative of people's frustration with an ineffective justice system, as it is of their own disregard for the law.
