Miles' Polokwane Man
MILES DRAWS HIS INSPIRATION for this cartoon, as many other cartoonists have before him, from Leonardo da Vinci's iconic 'The Vitruvian Man' (pictured below).
[Via] The ‘Vitruvian Man’ by Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most iconic images of Renaissance art.
Dating from 1490, this pen and ink drawing depicts a male figure in superimposed positions, arms and legs apart and inscribed in a circle and square. The accompanying text details the ideal human proportions, with geometry described by the ancient Roman architect Vitruvius.
But, as the above link suggests, there are those who believe that Leonardo himself copied the image.
