Alarm Bells for Zuma
[SCROLL DOWN TO SEE SIMILAR CARTOON]
WAKEY WAKEY! The President receives a timorous wake up call as voters register their dissatisfaction in the closely contested Mandela Bay municipality.
When two strikingly similar cartoons appear in the papers on the same day, and are unlikely to have been influenced by one another, it makes them perfect candidates for the GMTA (Great Minds Think Alike) tag. There can be many triggers for such an event to occur; sometimes it's pure coincidence, often times the same sentence in the newspapers or on the radio might spark a similar idea for both cartoonists. And on other occasions the link that makes their cartoons similar might follow a natural course of deduction, leading to an obvious conclusion. If it's too obvious a connection, we'll refrain from awarding the GMTA tag, but where we feel the similarities are both interesting and serendipitous, you'll find them featured as GMTA cartoons. The above Mark Wiggett, and the Zapiro cartoon below provide such an example.
