I remember being woken up by vuvuzelas and feeling somewhat euphoric and proud. The World Cup’s success was a wonderful middle finger to all the naysaying prophets. So many people said (and hoped) that South Africa would fail; do you remember those “bloodbath” and “machete war” headlines? Ha ha.

WORLD CUP LEGACY: Vuvuzelas are still ringing in our ears one year after the Soccer World Cup. As JERM's cartoon suggests, the positives from hosting one of sport's greatest events have far outweighed the negatives (read: costs). The country took the anniversary of the World Cup's kick off to asses its legacy - with an almost unanimous vote of confidence.
