The Beatles Abbey Road

SIGNS OF THE TIMES: News that the Beatles' famous recording studio, Abbey Road, is to be sold was met by sadness by many traditionalists. But it is indicative of a digital revolution in the industry, bringing more freedom to artists to produce, market and deliver their own music inexpensively and professionally.

I love this cartoon. Interestingly, the cartoonist has not succumbed to the digital revolution to which his cartoon refers. One amazing consequence of this is that the second frame has been redrawn by hand; not simply "flipped" as a digital renderer would do. Note the subtle differences in the detail. Also, did you notice that Paul is the only Beatle bare-footed and out of step? That detail on the Abbey Road record cover would (inexplicably) give rise to rumours of his death! Another detail in Zapiro's second version is that the VW Beetle has been upgraded to the modern version of the vehicle.
