WHEN WE THINK OF CARTOONS in South Africa, particularly those of us who live in Joburg, we tend to never think much further than the peerless Zapiro, or the quintessential northern suburbs Madame and Eve, but cartooning is alive and well in this country - and here's a book that proves it.

THE SATIRICAL life sized puppet show created by cartoonist Zapiro and produced by Thierry Cassuto will finally be flighted on TV after being canned two years ago by the SABC, who had co-funded the show's pilot to the tune of R1 million.
Last year, the show took to the internet, changing its name from Z News to ZA News, and is currently in its second season after a hugely successful first. You can view it by visiting Africartoon's YouTube Africhannel.
