[translation for the benefit of overseas readers]
BOER means 'Farmer' (typically an Afrikaans one).
BOEREWORS is the sousage they make.
NATIONAL HERITAGE DAY is when South Africans of all hues braai.
TO BRAAI is to cook meat (especially boerewors) on an open fire.

Braai the Beloved Country
SHOULDN'T THAT BE 'GRILL THE BOERewors'? JERM celebrates tomorrow's National Heritage Day (or 'National Braai Day', as Desmond Tutu has suggested), with a cartoon which brings a whole herd of comrades and adversaries together around the Weber. And, to mark this celebration of our collective heritage, JERM has suggested an amendment to the controversial and divisive 'Shoot the Boer' song (often referred to as 'Kill the Boer').
