Mark Wiggett
MARK WIGGETT was born on November 23 1950 in Port Elizabeth and went to Union High School in Graaff-Reinet where he matriculated in 1969. He spent 28 years freelancing in Jo'burg, cartooning for a large variety of corporate clients and publications, most notably FNB, and Barry Ronge's column in the Sunday Times.
Mark's familiar style is complemented by a good natured sense of humour, making his cartoons accessible and pleasant without compromising their message.

Mark's interests include drumming. As a band member of the Rene Arnell Band, he once performed a curtain raiser gig for the Chris de Burgh Tour of South Africa in the early eighties! He currently drums for Knysna rock outfit 'Rapid Auto Fire'; check out their video below.
In 2007 Mark competed against a number of fellow cartoonists on the national TV show The Weakest Link. That same year he was regional winner of the Vodacom Journalist of the Year Awards (Cartoon Category), and was also nominated for the best cartoonist in the SA Comedy Awards.
In 2009 he again won the regional round of the Vodacom Journalist of the Year Awards with a cartoon of Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe. Later that year, Mark's cartoons were published in the inaugural "Year in Cartoons" annual entitled "Don't Joke!", featuring cartoons from the best political cartoonists in South Africa.
In 2010 his cartoons were again amongst the best of the year to be published in that year's collection, titled 'Just for Kicks!'
