Qaphelani 'QAPS' Mngadi is one of the only cartoonists in South Africa to produce regular cartoons in isiZulu for a mainstream newspaper ('Isolezwe').

In fact, at one point, he was the only cartoonist producing regular work in any of the official languages other than English and Afrikaans; highlighting a dire need for more cartoonists and publications to be published in the other African languages.

QAPS was born in Clermont near Durban and started out with the Christian isiZulu paper 'Umafrika' before he joined 'Isolezwe' in 2003 where he remains to this day, having built up a strong following amongst the paper's readership.

In 2009, Qap's cartoons were included in the collection of best cartoons of the year entitled 'DON'T JOKE!' The year in cartoons. In 2010, Quap's published his own collection of cartoons in 'ZUMA's ROAD TO VICTORY' (Umsinsi Press).
