Cartoonists to Gather in Durban
CARTOONISTS from Johannesburg and Cape Town will be joining their Durban counterparts this weekend and all who are interested in editorial cartooning are invited to join them.
Sifiso Yalo, Stidy, Bethuel Mangena, Nanda Soobben, Qaps Mngadi, Themba Siwela and John Curtis are amongst the cartoonists invited to celebrate the Durban launch of Don’t Joke! The Year in Cartoons edited by Andy Mason and John Curtis (Jacana Media). The launch is part of the Time of The Writer literary festival in Durban and will take place on the Wellington Tavern Deck at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre at the University of KwaZulu-Natal at 6:45pm.
The cartoonists will also present slides of cartoons from the book, and host a round table discussion entitled DON’T JOKE! THE CHANGING FACE OF SOUTH AFRICAN POLITICAL CARTOONING from 13h30 to15h30 at Mission Control, the BAT Centre.
