Treknet turns five!

Treknet, the newspaper cartoon strip about the adventures of two fishermen Boet and John, has blossomed from a weekly strip in a local rag to a nationally syndicated daily strip now appearing in 22 publications extending to Namibia and all the way to Sweden.

Zapiro at the Slave Lodge (11 Feb - 18 April, 2010)

MANDELA CARTOONS: 20 Years of Freedom

Twenty years ago when Nelson Mandela walked free, the world's cartoonists waited with bated breath and pens poised wondering what he would look like.

It had been 27 years since their reference photographs were taken, and his image had been banned by the apartheid government since. They also wondered what line his politics would take.

2009 Dec 1: World AIDS Day

For the very first time since the declaration of World AIDS Day, South African cartoonists have cause to celebrate a government policy that is finally taking the pandemic seriously. There is much still to be done to turn the tide against HIV/AIDS, but as this collection of cartoons clearly demonstrates, denialism has at last given way to a new activism.
